Collaborative Capacity Building

A long term partnership with a nonprofit to build the right skills and systems in the organization to fuel sustainable growth and impact. This service is uniquely designed for each nonprofit, depending upon their needs and bandwidth for implementation.

The nonprofit sector is changing rapidly. CSR funding, grants, and high-net-worth individual (HNI) investments have played a major role in the initiative to scale the impact of the nonprofit sector. However, this requires investment not just in good projects, but also in the organizations that run them. No matter how much the investment, a great organization with ineffective programs will not yield results, and a weak organization with amazing programs will not sustain or grow.

There is an increasing need for NGOs to show consistent performance and proof of impact. Capacity building in the sector is needed now more than ever, as NGOs require assistance in adapting to the new result-based paradigm and becoming sustainable.

Own2Feet's flagship capacity building program is a direct response to this sector-wide need. We provide 360-degree guidance to nonprofits across domains on a consistent, long-term basis through hands-on support in their day-to-day operations. This program is especially relevant for small or mid-sized NGOs who have not yet stabilized their financial sustenance and impact delivery. Our program is designed to enhance organizational effectiveness, strategic planning, and financial sustainability.

Inspired by the "twinning" approach to capacity building, we forge long-term, continuous relationships with the NGOs we work with. We first assess the organization's needs and then teach the requisite skills to the relevant staff by guiding them through their day-to-day work for a minimum of 6-12 months. We are action-oriented, spending less than 30-40% of our project duration on theory, with the remaining time focused on implementation and hands-on support. We train the NGOs holistically across multiple domains, including leadership, governance, program design, fundraising strategies, and operational improvements, all aimed at strengthening their ability to achieve their missions.

At Own 2 Feet, we believe the best learning happens on the job. We don't pull NGO teams away from their work to sit in a classroom - our training happens by guiding them through their daily tasks, ensuring we help them do their jobs better. Our training benefits team members at all levels, from board members and founders to fundraisers and program staff.
