The Indian social sector has undergone radical transformation in the last decade, fueled by sweeping changes in CSR regulations and national emergencies like COVID. There is more attention on the sector than there ever has been and the very foundation of how all players in the sector operate is evolving to become more efficient and results oriented. In addition to this, there is a strong emphasis from the government on enhancing local funding ecosystem, leading to gradual increase in % contribution of CSR and organized philanthropy. This calls for a fundamental shift in how nonprofits function, demanding that they become more strategic, efficient and results-oriented. While a small % of NGOs have adapted to that and are thriving, there is a vast majority of small and mid sized NGOs that do not have the skills and resources to function like this. They need education and assistance in order to grow out of their survival mode and become sustainable operationally and financially.
That is exactly what Own2Feet was created for - to help nonprofits grow and evolve to fit into this new world of transparency, accountability and collaboration with CSR & government to co-create social change. Our flagship program is Capacity building for NGOs, offering a variety of services from long term handholding and training, to short term training programs or workshops in specific domains like fundraising, governance etc. We also offer CSR services to corporates, including Impact Measurement, baseline studies, feasibility studies etc. Our in-depth experience assessing and building nonprofits across India informs our research design, making it more comprehensive, grounded into realities of how NGOs function and useful not just to the corporate in determining impact but also to the nonprofit in charting a way forward for better impact delivery.
​Own2Feet was founded in 2021 by Ms Kiran M Rao, a veteran social sector professional and Ms Shivani Sharma, an ex-kantar researcher turned nonprofit success enthusiast. Together, they dream of ushering countless nonprofits into the world of organizational excellence and sustainability.
